The Art of Prioritization
Named after Dwight D. Eisenhower, the 34th President of the United States, this matrix helps you decide on and prioritize tasks by urgency and importance, sorting out less urgent and important tasks which you should either delegate or not do at all.
The "Crisis" Zone
These are deadlines, emergencies, and pressing problems. While necessary, spending too much time here leads to burnout and reactive living.
The "Strategic" Zone
This is where the magic happens. Relationships, planning, recreation, and personal growth. High performers aim to spend 60-80% of their time here.
The "Distraction" Zone
Interruptive meetings, some emails, some phone calls. These often feel urgent but don't contribute to your long-term goals. Delegate or minimize.
The "Waste" Zone
Time-wasters, excessive entertainment, busy work. These provide zero value. Eliminate them ruthlessly to reclaim your mental space.
